Cookies & Privacy Notice

The San José Wind Symphony is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community wind ensemble based in San José, California. You can reach us at:

• Concert alerts. If you join our concert alerts list, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. This list is managed through Mailchimp. Addresses collected through this form are used only to mail SJWS season brochures and are stored in Mailchimp.
• Tickets and donations. Purchases and donations are processed by our ticketing provider (VBO Tickets). Payment and contact details you enter there are collected by that provider under its own privacy policy; we receive the information needed to fulfill your order and acknowledge your gift.
• Audition applications. Audition form responses are collected through Google Forms and are subject to Google’s privacy policy.
• Site usage. Google Analytics measures site usage by default (pages visited, approximate location, device type) so we can understand how the site is used and improve it. You can opt out at any time using the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer of every page.

• Sending concert announcements, program notes, and ticket reminders.
• Processing and fulfilling ticket purchases and donations.
• Responding to your questions and requests.
• Understanding how the site is used so we can improve it.
• Measuring the effectiveness of our advertising, unless you opt out of advertising cookies.

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share it except with the service providers listed below who help us operate.

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We group them into three categories:

• Necessary — always on. Required for core site functions, including remembering your own cookie choices.
• Performance and Analytics. Google Analytics cookies that help us count visits and see which pages are useful. They are on by default; you can turn them off at any time.
• Advertising. Cookies from advertising services such as the Meta (Facebook) pixel and Google Ads, which measure our campaigns. They are on by default; you can turn them off at any time. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out and keep advertising cookies off. Third-party embeds on this site — the ticket office, donation form, and audition form — also follow this setting.

You can change your choices at any time using the Your Privacy Choices link in the footer of every page.

• VBO Tickets — ticket sales and donations.
• Mailchimp — concert alerts email list.
• Google Forms — audition applications.
• YouTube — the intro video on our home page (loaded in privacy-enhanced mode only when you tap the play button).
• Google Analytics — site usage statistics (on by default; you can opt out at any time).

Each of these providers processes information under its own privacy policy.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request that we delete or correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. When advertising cookies are on (the default), the Meta pixel shares information about your visit with Meta for advertising measurement, which California law treats as “sharing.” You can opt out at any time using the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer, which turns advertising cookies off. We also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out.

Every concert alert email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email info@sjws.org and we will remove you from the list.

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this notice as the site or the law changes. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
